Stop racism and fascism!
We are the majority • Rights for all!
We find ourselves in a global crisis, that is climatic, economic, social, civilizational… marked by the escalating risk of war and a rising far right that promotes and justifies hatred in attitudes and speech with total impunity. A context where an anti-rights, xenophobic, sexist and often openly fascist ideology spreads, eroding coexistence and the democratic basis of society.
This fuels institutional and structural racism, which means that hundreds of thousands of people see their essential rights violated, such as the right to administrative regularisation, access to housing and work, protection from discriminatory police actions…
Racism takes specific forms, such as Islamophobia, Romaphobia, Antisemitism… Meanwhile, gender oppression affects women in general, but especially trans women —a special target of far-right attacks—, in addition to LGBTI+ people as a whole. All of these oppressions interrelate and multiply between themselves and with social class. But they can also provoke resistance.
The fact is that in the face of all this, there are increasingly strong resistance movements.
The long struggle of RegularizaciónYa, which has brought together and mobilised very diverse forces, has achieved a great victory; we will have to continue to press to make it effective. The racist eviction of 400 residents of the abandoned B9 school buildings in Badalona provoked a magnificent resistance and solidarity, both from the people left on the street and from other neighbours. In different parts of the country, and especially in Salt, racialised families are facing racism in housing.
Meanwhile, all over the country, movements and networks are recognising the need to combat racism and the far right: in the world of work, in housing, in education and many other areas. The solidarity movement with Palestinian people in the face of the genocide committed by the racist and far-right Israeli government also expresses a rejection of far-right hatred.
We, the people who oppose hate, are the majority.
This can also be seen around the world. The massive popular uprising in Minneapolis —and other large protests around the USA— against ICE, Trump’s racist and far right militia, shows this. In Argentina, LGBTI+ movements led a unitary protest of 2 million people against Milei, idol of VOX and Aliança Catalana. There have been large unitary protests against racism and fascism in many other countries in Europe and beyond.
For all this, and more, we will take to the streets of Barcelona next Saturday, 28 March, in response to the global call for the UN Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
If you are outraged by the arrests and abuses of ICE in the US, take to the streets to fight their equivalents here. Let’s end the European policies of death at the borders, under the European Pact on Migration and Asylum (PEMA) and the European deportation regulations that, following the policy of the fascist Meloni, denies the international right to asylum.
If you are disgusted by Donald Trump, join the fight against his acolytes in our country, such as VOX and Aliança Catalana, who receive political, economic and ideological support from the international far right. Trump is promoting the far right in Europe, through money and with the nefarious influence of the Trumpist techno-oligarchs.
Let’s join what will be a great global mobilisation to say enough is enough! Stop racism, stop fascism. Show that we are the majority.
If we act collectively and broadly, we can put an end to the growth of racist and far-right forces.
It is not an abstract and moral issue; it affects us all. Concrete and urgent measures are needed against those who deny social, labour and civil rights.
This 28M, we demand:
Against institutional racism:
- A broad, effective, agile and non-exclusive regularisation
- Universal access to public services; no city council must sabotage the right to register.
- Right to decent housing for all, no more racism in housing.
- Policies to end racism and exclusion in the world of work.
- Comprehensive measures to combat racism in education.
- No more deaths in police custody; no more arrests based on ethnic profiling.
- An end to the mistreatment and criminalisation of migrant minors; we must protect children and adolescents, without discrimination.
- No more deportations, close the CIEs, repeal the Immigration Law.
To stop the far right:
- No more impunity in the institutions, in the media, in the streets… no to normalising hatred!
- No collaboration with the far right by other parties.
- Fascism is not an opinion, it is a crime against humanity: it has no place anywhere. Let’s stand up to them everywhere.
Stop fascism and racism! Rights for all! We are the majority. They shall not pass!!
